7 year old Rohan did some busking outside King's Place by playing the drums! He raised $242.50 for the Fredericton Food Bank and even received some invites to future gigs!
The video can be seen here.
Thank you so much Rohan!
Looking for something to do with the kids on March Break? Chef Yves has two family cooking classes schedule. March 4th at noon and March 9th at noon. If you're interested in coming in then please email Chef so he knows who to expect and can be sure there are enough ingredients for everyone.
What do most kids do on a snow day? Not Rachel and Cara who went around their neighborhood to collect food for the Foodbank and brought in 3 big bags full!! Thank you so much!
The second annual Turkey Race between the northside and the southside of Fredericton brought in an astounding number of turkeys (almost 1400). Thanks to the firefighters, Peter's Meat, Victory Meat and all the people of Fredericton who supported this in record numbers. To say we were blown away is a vast understatement!!
During this week and next we have many volunteers from businesses and companies in Fredericton who come in and pack and sort and get us ready for our Christmas hampers. It was a pleasure to have people from Kent Building Supplies (South) in to help us get ready to hit the ground running!
The donations have been rolling in! Groups such as UNB Varsity, STU Athletics, We Define NB, Epsilon Y's Service Club, Marysville Y's Service Club, 1RNBR, The Fredericton Golden Club and Bayview Trucks and Supplies! Thank you for your support!!
We are rapidly closing in on Christmas and our Angel Tree program is in full swing! So far this year we have just over 2500 angel requests but we know that the people of Fredericton (and environs) are amazing supporters of this program!
Thank you all so much for the continued support!
Thanks to UNB Varsity Sports for the donation!! Some much needed items as we get into the busiest time of the year for us!
It has been a busy month for sure. Our Christmas program is well under way with over 2400 angel gift requests and 1100 hamper requests already processed.
We've had some big food drives from Keller Williams, Grace Memorial Church and Skillsoft. A generous donation from the Fredericton Kinsmen. A drive for baby items from Strollerfit and continued support from the fantastic folks at Walmart on Two Nations Crossing.
We've also just finished another Community Food Mentor Course! This marks our 10th time running this course centered around food security and it's always interesting to see the wide variety of people interested in a topic very close to our hearts.
We're at that time of year again! The Angel Tree is up at Regent Mall, Christmas applications are being processed and we're almost in full swing.
Last year, thanks to the generosity of the community, Christmas was provided for over 1000 families! We couldn't ask for a better, more supportive community.
We're happy to be part of the annual Mactaquac ScareFair! This Saturday, October 27th. Free Admission with donation of non-perishable food items!
UPS has been a long time supporter of the work we do at Greener Village and some of them came in the other day to give us a few hours of their time as volunteers!
We know nobody wants to think of it quite yet but in order to make our Christmas program as successful as it is it means we need to start early. We've begun registering food bank clients for the program, taking the angel requests and writing up the angels for when the Angel Tree goes up at the Regent Mall on November 14th. Our Christmas program provides Christmas dinner to nearly 1000 families in the Fredericton area and over 2600 presents to children!
We need volunteers for both admin work at Greener Village and table work at the mall. Please email email@example.com if you're able to give us a hand this season.
When we get to that time of year when people say what they are thankful for - we are thankful for the continued support from the community. From individual donations to large corporate donations, the people and businesses of Fredericton are what allow us to provide assistance to over 1200 families every month.
We're happy to have the Spark program from George Street School come in Friday mornings to explore cooking in the kitchen with Chef Yves. Today the kids made homemade pizza and pasta salad.
If you're interested in setting up something similar with your school contact Chef at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Nice to have people come in from Deloitte as part of their month of giving!! They got a ton (literally) accomplished in the food warehouse and in sorting the incoming donations coming in to the boutique!
A little late as our web person has been using up some vacation time before the busyness of Christmas takes us full throttle. There are some people we really need to thank though - Sunrise Rotary, The Radical Edge, Burger King, Fredericton Food Rescue and more.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in the Beer on the Bridge event!! Sunrise Rotary stopped by at our recent Open House event to present us with this donation!
It's not exactly lemons and lemonade but it is a fair amount of tart, local grapes from a gleaning project that Chef Yves turned into 126 jars of grape jelly that we can then put up as one of our client choice items.
Thank you to Burger King (Smythe Street and Cliffe Street) and all their customers for the generous donation!
Thank you to the Radical Edge, Osprey, Graystone Brewing and Jennie! This year we provided school supplies for over 400 children and your donation of 100 book bags was a huge help!!
Short but sweet update this week!
Once again it's time for our annual Open House event!! Tours, information kiosks, free corn boil, face painting, hay rides, fundraising BBQ. September 23 from Noon-5pm!
